22 years of Luna

On June 9, 2004, Javier and Anette opened a tapas restaurant in the roundabout in Lysekil.

At first, not many believed in the small Luna Cafe, which was the name of the restaurant when it opened in 2004. It was quite difficult to get started, as the restaurant had large windows that Anette loved because she thought they would look inviting to passing guests. However, they quickly realized that the windows worked both ways and also showed that the restaurant was empty, so they quickly bought blinds for the large windows.

But soon, Luna Cafe began to take off and earned the nickname "Luna." In the first few years, Luna had about five tables, and the menu consisted of hearty sandwiches and some Spanish tapas. After a few years, Luna started to grow, and the name "Luna Cafe" became well-known in Lysekil. From grill evenings to paella Sundays, it became a tradition to visit Luna to spend summer evenings at the restaurant.

In 2011, they started Chateaux Luna, the vineyard. The idea was not only to produce wine but also to create a new destination for tourists in Lysekil. The first harvest took place in 2013, and with a production of only 20 liters of grape juice, a fantastic white wine with elderflower and citrus aromas was created. The following year, despite hungry wasps challenging the vineyard, they managed to harvest 70 liters of grape juice. The 2017 harvest produced about 150 bottles, and since then, the wine production has continued to develop and grow.

In 2024, 20 years after the restaurant opened, two new restaurants, Luna Asian and Luna Grill, were added. The name Luna Cafe was also changed to Luna Restaurant and Vineyard. Today, Luna Restaurant has over 100 seats and has become a popular destination for many in Bohuslän. The menu no longer features hot sandwiches, but Spanish tapas and fusion tapas inspired by flavors from around the world. Luna has risen to the top of the TripAdvisor rankings in Lysekil. Javier, who is also a trained sommelier, helps pair the food with fantastic wines. The vineyard now has over 4500 vines, including Solaris, Rondo, and a small amount of Pinot Noir. Vineyard tours, wine tastings, and other exciting events are regularly held at Luna.
